Labor Day weekend may be showing up early and the europoor desk took one last slow drive up before the bell, leaving ES and NQ above Thursday’s entire auction, crude hanging off the bottom of its own, and gold parked in the middle of unfinished business. NFP this am so be careful. If you can’t catch
a trade in the first 90 minutes, I’m leaning to call it a session and start a 4 day break. Be safe. See you Monday Night!
The Tape
ES is 7757, back under the overnight POC at 7759.75 and holding the 7756.25 floor of the value built in the dark. Thursday bought 7699.75 and finished at 7723.25 with value migrating up into 7719.50 around a 7710 POC, but that entire auction is below price now. The night put its floor at 7756.25, its ceiling at 7762.75, and did most of its business at 7759.75, so this gap is trying to become value instead of getting filled on sight. Clear 7764.50 and hold it, and buyers have earned the breakout into the August POC at 7775. Lose 7756.25 and the low at 7748.25 becomes the trapdoor back to the weekly shelf at 7727.75.
NQ is 29660.75, above the overnight VAH at 29639.25 and still working at 29704.50. Thursday finished at 29404.25 after building value from 29269.50 to 29358.75 around a 29350 POC, and the night left all of that behind without much ceremony. Overnight value climbed from 29499.25 to 29639.25 around a 29540 print; that’s buyers moving the auction instead of dragging price through an empty room. Hold above 29704.50 and last week’s high at 29811.50 opens, while a rejection puts the August POC at 29600 back under the tires. Lose 29600 and the 29540 overnight POC catches first, with the weekly edge at 29539.20 right under it and the night exposed to 29482.
CL is 90.73, back over the 90.70 overnight POC after a proper faceplant, with the 90.38 overnight VAL underneath. Thursday was a rotation with value from 91.80 to 92.23 and its POC at 92.20, which looked fine until none of it survived the night. Crude tagged 92.17, fell out of its own value, and stopped at 90.33, a failed auction that leaves sellers owning every shelf between here and Thursday’s value. With 90.70 reclaimed, 91.52 is where the bounce runs into the first real reoffer. Lose 90.33 and September’s value floor at 89.07 is the catch before the old August breakout at 87.69.
